•Special instructions for adding COMP courses during the Fall 2010 semester -- all adds will be handled centrally by the Computer Science Department Office; all requests to add must be submitted by use of an online form that can be entered by CLICKING HERE.
•You may have noticed the Fall 2010 scheduling of a new course: COMP 490/L, Senior Design Project. For students majoring in Computer Science starting under the 2010-2012 University Catalog, a change has occurred: COMP 450 may no longer be used to meet any of the requirements in the major and all students must take a year-long senior design project consisting of COMP 490/L and COMP 491L. Students under University Catalog agreements for the major prior to 2010 may still follow the degree requirements for that Catalog year and are not required to take COMP 490/L and COMP 491L.
•If your declared Catalog year for Computer Science is prior to 2010, you DO have the OPTION to complete COMP 490/L and COMP 491L, Senior Design Project:
✦If you enroll in COMP 490/L for Fall 2010, you must commit to completing COMP 491L during Spring 2011 in order to receive credit for either course towards degree requirements; you must take both of the courses.
✦If you have completed COMP 450 by the end of the Spring 2010 semester, then the completion of COMP 490/L and COMP 491L may be counted as 2 of the 5 courses required in your Senior Elective Package. Please note: this option exists only for students who have completed COMP 450 by the end of the Spring 2010.
✦If you have not attempted COMP 450, you may request that COMP 490/L substitute for the COMP 450 requirement (you do not take COMP 450) and that COMP 491L count as 1 of the 5 courses required in your Senior Elective Package.
•Announcement of a new baccalaureate degree in Computer Information Technology starting Fall 2010. The startup of this program is subject to one last approval but the initial offering of course sessions appears in the Fall 2010 Schedule of Classes and are available for enrollment. A diagram showing the course requirements in the new major and a draft copy of the 2010-2012 University Catalog entry are available by clicking on the highlighted text. Please contact your advisor for additional information.
•An advisement note for Fall 2010 - if you were planning to take MATH 326 during the Fall term, you can elect to enroll in COMP 296FCS/FCL as an alternative. The prerequisites for COMP 296FCS/FCL are COMP 110/L and MATH 150A. If you are minoring in mathematics, then MATH 320 is another way to satisfy the discrete math requirement in the computer science major.
•Computer Science intents to offer courses during Summer 2010. Details will be available at http://tsengcollege.csun.edu/summer.html; tentative list includes: COMP 100, 110/L, 232, 300, 310, 322/L, 424 and 429.
•Experimental and Selected Topics Courses (these courses do not appear in the University Catalog)

•How to enroll in a computer science lecture/lab course: Each computer science lab is linked to a specific lecture session. During the course registration period, select the desired lecture/lab pair and enroll in the lab session. Then, during the first week of instruction, attend both the lecture and lab to receive instructions on how to complete the registration process in the companion lecture component.
